local charities benefit from beer festival success

News at Furnell Residential | 30/06/2023

A local community beer festival raised an incredible £12,000 for two local charities.

Over 800 people attended the sun-drenched annual Clifford Champion Beer Festival sponsored by local estate agent Furnell Residential, with all proceeds going to the Village Hall and Clifford Amateur Football Club.

Real ale aficionados had a choice of over 30 real ales, along with lager, wine, prosecco and gin at the popular annual event held at the Village Hall.

A packed programme of entertainment included the band ‘Don’t Ask Questions’ featuring students from Tadcaster Grammar School who ‘went down a storm’, according to the organisers.

Richard Brough from the organising committee said: “The 2023 Clifford Champion Beer Festival was the best ever and the money raised eclipsed the £9,000 we generated in 2022.

“These events don’t happen by chance and rely on the support of many people including volunteers, our main sponsor Furnell Residential and all those organisations and venues who donated raffle prizes. We cannot thank them enough.”

Ben Furnell, Managing Director of Furnell Residential, said: “The festival once again surpassed our expectations and was a credit to all those involved. As a community minded company it is an event which we are delighted to support and will continue to do so in future years.”

The 2024 Furnell sponsored festival will take place on Saturday, 29th June at Clifford Village Hall.
