Knaresborough

Knaresborough is a picturesque market and spa town nestled on the banks of the River Nidd, 3 miles east of Harrogate and is instantly recognisable to people all over the world thanks to the iconic view of its famous viaduct.

If the viaduct fails to bring Knaresborough immediately to mind then the fabled Mother Shipton’s Cave and the Periling Well  guarantee Knaresborough’s place amongst the ‘must visit town’s’ in the north of England.

The town is full of side streets packed with quirky shops, tea rooms and cafes, and old buildings which wrap around the market place where the Wednesday market takes place, opened by the town crier. There is also plenty of choice when it comes to pubs, bars and restaurants, along with a full range of everyday amenities including a public swimming pool.

Schools

There are a large number of schools in and around Knaresborough for children of all ages.  The list includes, Burton Leonard Church of England Primary, King James School, Harrogate Grammar and Meadowside which were all classed as ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ in their latest Ofsted inspection.
