North Leeds Villages
The villages and towns to the north of Leeds are referred to collectively as the Golden Triangle, and it's easy to see why.
Stunning properties, unspoilt countryside, access to excellent amenities and schools and a good transport infrastructure combine to make this area one of the most sought-after in the region. Amongst the villages which occupy this idyllic piece of Yorkshire are Bardsey, East Keswick, Scarcroft and Thorner.
Bardsey
The picturesque village of Bardsey is 8 miles north east of Leeds city centre and 4 miles south west of Wetherby and lies just off the A58.
There is no shortage of pursuits for residents to enjoy with numerous sports clubs, societies and bridle paths to explore. It is also home to The Bingley Arms, England’s oldest pub.
The village has its own primary school, Bardsey Primary, and is in the catchment area of several others.
East Keswick
East Keswick is a traditional English village which lies four miles south west of Wetherby, just off the A58 with a vibrant, inclusive and welcoming community.
The village contains two pubs, the Duke of Wellington and the Old Star and is also home to legendary pork pie producer R. P. Sketchfield Butcher. A local nursery, Busy Bees, is renowned for providing top class childcare within its purpose-built nursery.
Scarcroft
Scarcroft is one of the real jewels in the Golden Triangle crown. Just off the A58, It is surrounded by beautiful countryside which helps create the tranquil ambience for which it is known.
The village has its own pub, The New Inn and a beautiful 18 hole golf course set in magnificent parkland, drawing golfers from the local area and beyond.
Thorner
Thorner is a rural village situated closed to the A1, A58 and A64 trunk roads making it a popular choice for commuters. The village has its own school, Thorner Church of England Primary School, which was rated as ‘Good’ following its last Ofsted inspection.
It has two pubs, The Mexborough Arms and The Fox along with a delicatessen and a hairdresser’s. Social amenities include the Parish Centre, the Victory Hall, an over-60’s centre, bowling green, tennis courts and cricket and football pitches.
