area guide - Collingham

News at Furnell Residential | 02/08/2021

The perennially popular village of Collingham is situated just two miles south of Wetherby, close to Harewood and Bardsey, and 11 miles from Leeds city centre.

The village includes a wide range of house styles including Georgian and Victorian, through to modern day contemporary, meaning there really is something for every kind of buyer.

It has particular appeal for families with children who appreciate the proximity to a number of excellent schools including; Collingham Lady Elizabeth Hastings’ Church of England Primary, Bardsey Primary, Deighton Gates Primary, Primrose Lane Primary, Crossley Street Primary, Harwood Primary, Wetherby High and Gateways.

Meanwhile, amenities such as a Tesco Express, Post Office and a doctor’s surgery, along with a number of other independent shops, mean you don’t have to venture far for those everyday essentials.

If eating out and socialising is your thing then head to Cromwell’s Bar and Kitchen on Harewood Road (formerly the Half Moon pub).  Alternatively, Piccolino on Main Street, opposite St Oswalds Church, serves up the very best in Italian food and attracts diners from far and wide.  The more adventurous will appreciate the proximity to the bright lights of Leeds.

For those who enjoy their sport Collingham and Linton Sports Association offers a range of options including cricket, senior and junior football, squash, hockey and tennis. Bowls is played at Collingham Bowling Club which is an important part of the village community. For the less sporty but equally energetic there are plenty of walks along the banks of the River Wharfe or in the beautiful open countryside which adorns the area.

Another feature Collingham can proudly boast is its excellent transport links with regular buses to Leeds, Wetherby and other destinations, along with easy access to the major road network including the A1 (M).

Ben Furnell, Managing Director of Furnell residential said: “Collingham has been able to maintain a real village feel with a strong sense of community, while adapting to the demands of modern living, which is why it continues to be a popular choice for home buyers of all ages. We know from experience that houses which do come to market are snapped up extremely quickly.”
