furnell makes £5,000 donation to local hospice

It was smiles all round when local estate agent Furnell Residential donated £5,000 to St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds.

The agent is a corporate partner of the hospice and the donation is based on a contribution for every house sale completed in the last 12 months, as well as supporting other fund-raising initiatives. These include sponsorship of The Bingley Arms Charity Golf Day in aid of St Gemma’s and held in memory of Ged Sugden, a former landlord of the popular pub in the heart of Bardsey.

This is the second year Furnell has partnered with the hospice and the total amount donated by the company now stands at a fantastic £12,000.

Managing director Ben Furnell visited the hospice recently, accompanied by his wife Victoria and son William, to make the donation. They also dropped off Easter eggs for all the fantastic staff and a giant egg for use as a competition prize.

Ben said: “We are delighted to make this sizeable donation to St Gemma’s to help fund the expert care they provide to families across the area who are going through the most difficult of times.

“The Easter eggs are a small gesture to say ‘thank you’ to the staff for the wonderful job they do.”

Hannah Corne, corporate partnerships manager at St Gemma’s Hospice said: “We are delighted that Furnell Residential chose to partner with St Gemma’s Hospice.

“Their generous donation of £5,000 will go directly towards specialist end of life care for our patients and their families.”
