A leading national newspaper has named Wetherby as one of the best places to live in the north of England.

The Daily Telegraph used data which included the number of residents in good health, managerial occupations and high level qualifications, as well as the average house price, among its criteria.

The market town of Wetherby which stands on the banks of the River Wharfe was one of 11 Yorkshire towns in the list which also includes Harrogate, Horsforth and Knaresborough.

Ben Furnell of Furnell Residential said: “I am not surprised that Wetherby is included on this prestigious list as it continues to be a sought-after location for house buyers of all ages.

“The town has everything required for modern living including a wide choice of shops and general amenities, along with bars, restaurants and sports facilities. It is also a popular choice for families with children thanks to the number of excellent schools.

“The proximity to the A1 (M) and the wider road network is an additional benefit as is its proximity to Leeds which is just 12 miles away.”

Furnell Residential is a family owned estate agency covering North Leeds, Wetherby, York, Tadcaster, Harrogate and surrounding areas.
